Downtown Seattle last night from our hotel room window. My husband surprised me with tickets to see the Van Gogh experience and an overnight stay in our treasured city. Seattle holds many memories for us, I met my husband 29 years ago in a bar on 1st Ave. Although we lived in the suburbs, we often came downtown to meet up with friends, explore the water front, watch concerts, hydro races, Blue Angels Navy Jet shows, firework displays, shop, etc. When our (now grown) kids were young, they loved coming downtown to visit the aquarium, Pike Place Market and the Space Needle. If you zoom in, you can see the very top of the Needle in the top right corner. To the left of that are the Pacific Science Center arches all located in the Seattle Center complex built for the 1962 World Fair. 5th Ave runs up the right center of this picture and to the left of 5th Ave you can see the Olympic Mountains and Puget Sound (Elliot Bay) peaking through the buildings. Like many cities, Seattle is going through some challenging times, however, the beauty of the Pacific Northwest shines through. We now live 2 hours south of Seattle, so it’s definitely a treat to visit.
